“Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” John 8:36 NKJV
On July 4th we will once again celebrate Independence Day to commemorate the adoption of Independence by the 13 colonies in the Pennsylvania State House in 1776. After the signing of that ground-breaking document, the courageous men who signed it said: “’And for the support of this Declaration with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred honor.’” (from “Our Daily Bread”) Because of the courage and sacrifice of these brave men, today we have more freedoms and opportunities than the inhabitants of any other nation in the world. Although we have many problems, our country continues to be the greatest place on earth to live although we sometimes forget the price that was, and continues to be, paid for our freedom.
In Romans 3:23 we read that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” And Paul states in Romans 6:23 that, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” However, more than 2,000 years after Christ died for OUR SINS, our world is still filled with evil. Although we are privileged to live in a country which has more freedoms than any other nation, to be free from sin is even more important and valuable. Although we can break the bondage to sin through faith in Jesus Christ, many fail to do so and continue to succumb to evil. If you have never experienced TRUE FREEDOM, FREEDOM FROM SIN, through faith in Jesus Christ, you can do so today by asking Him into your heart. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he (she) is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold ALL THINGS have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
